      First Responder

Ambulance Victoria is calling on all community members who are confident and willing to perform CPR, including those with first aid training to sign up to the GoodSAM app. By doing so, you can help improve survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

      First Aid Kit

Already, 17,327 Victorians have taken up the challenge to become a GoodSAM responder. Their quick actions and willingness to step in have helped save lives, with many cardiac arrest patients alive today thanks to bystander intervention through the app.

      Medicine Icon

The GoodSAM app alerts responders to people in cardiac arrest nearby, so that CPR and defibrillation can be started while emergency services are on the way. We know that cardiac arrest is one of our biggest killers and it can happen to anyone at any time, often without symptoms. Every day, around 21 Victorians suffer a cardiac arrest and, sadly, only one in 10 survive. When a heart stops beating, a person’s chance of survival drops by 10 per cent for every minute without help. By performing hands-only CPR, bystanders can keep someone’s heart pumping in those vital first minutes and more than double their chance of survival.

It takes a team to save a life and you are a vital part of that team.

    • Important Announcement

ALIT is committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all students, regardless of nationality or background. Recently, we have received student complaints that some learners feel left out or discriminated against when others speak in their own languages during class.

To ensure everyone feels included and supported, ALIT requires that only English be spoken during class time, including group activities, discussions, and practical sessions.

Speaking English in class helps to:

      • Ensure all students feel respected and included
      • Build confidence in communication skills
      • Prepare students for real workplace expectations
      • Support equal participation and understanding for everyone

We understand that English may not be your first language, and that’s okay—your trainers are here to support you. Please feel comfortable asking for help whenever you need it.

At ALIT, every student is valued, and your cultural background is respected. We want all students to feel accepted, supported, and part of our ALIT family.

      Regards,
      Emily McLennan
